Our Bands & Small Ensembles...

DCDD

DC's Different Drummers is composed of several bands and small ensembles. We play at our season concerts and at various gigs around town. We travel, too! Think of booking a DCDD band or ensemble for your next event! You can use the Contact Us page to inquire about our schedule.

Capitol Pride Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble-
Our symphonic band consists of approximately 60 members. We pride ourselves on having a full instrumentation and perform standard symphonic band repertoire. We perform at least two concerts a year (Fall and Spring) and rehearse every Monday during those seasons at Lutheran Church of the Reformation from 7:30-9:30 pm. The Capitol Pride Wind Ensemble rehearses before the Symphonic Band and performs wind ensemble repertoire designed for a smaller ensemble. They rehearse before the CPSB from 6:30-7:15pm. The Church is at 212 East Capitol St., NE near the Capitol South or Union Station Metro stops. All instrumentalists are welcome at all levels of musicianship. We welcome volunteers and production staff as well. Please e-mail Joe Bello our CPSB director for more information. See you at rehearsal!

Marching Band-
March to the Beat of DC's Different Drummers
So you haven't been in marching band since high school, but you've always wanted to strut your stuff in front a thousands of gay people . . . well, here's your chance!

Join DC's Different Drummers for Marching Season! Join us for our 33rd Season this April 2013. We need all sorts of instrumentalists, flag corps members (show and traditional color guard), twirlers, banner carriers, and "Band-Aides" who carry water and provide an equipment car and driver.

The Marching Band performs at Pride parades and other events throughout the year including athletic events, charitable events and drives, and at events to promote and recruit for DCDD.

Please e-mail Zachary Parker our Marching Band Director for more information.

DC Swing!-
DC Swing! performances include Pride events, swing dances, and regular concerts held in conjunction with the Symphonic Band. There are approximately 17 musicians playing exciting music from the Big Band Era. Rehearsals are every other Wednesday (typically with the summer off) at the Lutheran Church of the Reformation from 7:00-9:30 pm. Our instrumentation consists of five saxophones, four trombones, four trumpets, bass, piano, and percussion. Please e-mail Matt Leonhardt if you would like to be a part of this group!

Small Ensembles
Need a smaller group to perform? DC's Different Drummers also host several small ensembles available for your private functions, holy unions, banquets or anytime you want to fabulize your event with live music. Our ensembles include a brass or saxophone quintet, and a clarinet quartet. Contact our President for more information and scheduling. Since DCDD is a 501(c)(3) organization, your donation for these groups to play for your function may be tax deductible!

Band Aides - Volunteers and more!-
If any of the categories did not describe a talent or interest you might have, don't worry! The band is always in need of volunteers to help with performances, advertising, or anything to help bring music to our community. Non playing members can also be on our Board of Directors. Financial contributions are always welcome and can be sent to the address on the home page. You are welcome, needed, supported, and loved in this organization! Please e-mail our President if you would like to help. It takes a village to support a band! Come join the fun!
