D.C.'s Different Drummer's
Out of the closet?- your instrument should too!
Welcome! I am delighted that you want to know more about DC's Different Drummers -- the only community band in the Nation's Capital. When I joined the band in 2000 I was impressed by the dedication of the members, the level of musicianship, and the camaraderie of the members.
Musicians -- we invite you to join one of DC's Different Drummers' performing groups: the DCDD Marching Band, the Capitol Pride Symphonic Band, DC Swing!, our Pep Band, or one of the smaller ensembles. You may be part of just one ensemble or play in several throughout the year. There are no auditions, all you have to do is show up and play! For more information about our groups, click here.
Non-musician Supporter -- There are plenty of opportunities for non-musicians too. We need support personnel to help with concert production, fund raising, advertising, and even serve on our Board of Directors. During marching season we need people to carry water, banners, flags, or twirl!
Audience and Patrons -- We'll always need you, our audience. Last year, members of DCDD gave over a dozen performances -- over 1,000 people heard the Capitol Pride Symphonic Band. DC Swing! also played for a variety of fundraisers and for the Mayor, and the award-winning DCDD Marching Band was a smash hit at the Capital Pride Parade and Festival. Our patrons generously donate funds that allow us to perform and reach out to an ever widening audience.
